Frequently Asked Questions
Weight Limit
I’m not all that thin and I have no upper body strength. Do I have to be in great shape to take classes?
No! Stiletto Dance Studios is appropriate for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. You definitely don’t need to be thin. We believe all shapes are sexy, and in these classes, we want you to accentuate your curves. You’ll find women of all shapes and sizes in the class. It’s about the journey of fitness and self-ignition one stiletto step at a time. All moves can be made modified to challenge you or make it a little easier.
The only class that has a weight restriction is the pole dancing class. The recommended capacity of the poles for spins and lifts is 200 lbs. Otherwise, come as you are!
What do I wear?
If you're scheduled for a class, come in comfortable workout clothes. Tank tops and sports bras are favored. For the pole dancing classes it is helpful to wear fitted clothes and no lotion or hand jewelry. Shorts are recommended during any pole trick class. For beginner pole dancers we recommend that you wear long pants to make your initial spins more comfortable. Once you are more advanced you will wear short shorts for stability and inversions. Footwear is optional, socks barefoot or stilettos. Experiment with what works best for you. What’s most important is that you feel comfortable.
I’m shy
Many women are somewhat shy to start… this is a brand new movement. Nothing is expected of you so it doesn't take long before everyone lets their inhibitions go. Our studios provide women with a safe, fun and supportive environment to explore their sexy side. Instructors are trained to create a non-judgmental, relaxed, supportive atmosphere in class. We also offer Private Lessons with one-on-one instruction.
How often should I take class?
That depends on your own preference, and how quickly you would like to reach your fitness goal. You can do it one, two or three times a week. We advise to schedule at least one day of rest between two/three pole class lessons. Although you will notice the benefits of pole very well when you take one lesson a week, some more dedicated ladies take two or even three pole lessons a week. Before you realize, you are addicted to this varied workout!
It is seriously such an amazing workout. You get the strongest arms, shoulders, abs and back ever! In order to improve on the pole, it is very important to include strength elements in every pole workout that you do. Just remember practice makes perfect, and walk ins are always welcomed.
Is it a good workout?
Absolutely! Our classes are a total body workout. For instance, Pole Dancing requires you to lift your own body weight; even you weight lifters will be surprised how sore your muscles are the next day! The chair exercises will put your abs to the test. Seduction classes will get your heart pumping and show you how it’s hard moving slow and sensual while keeping you poker face. Our Yoga and Stiletto Stability Hand Balance program is the ultimate for flexibility and strength training. Get yourself in a Strength class for an amazing full-body workout! Check out our class descriptions for more details about each of our unique classes.
Class Size
We limit ALL our classes. At Stiletto Dance Studios we use proper technique to ensure your own safety. There are sixteen poles in our studio classroom so you either have your own pole or will share with a friend. No worries about sharing, this will allow you to take a break and stretch your arms out between choreography and the execution of pole tricks.
Can I make up a missed class?
Yes! We know life can get busy and you may need to miss one of your scheduled classes. You can make up a missed class at any time as long as it’s in the same level you are currently attending. Just let us know your plans so we don’t overbook the class. Please don’t plan to do more than 1 make-up per session. Unused classes may not be transferred to an upcoming session. Punch cards are non- transferable.
What Is Your Refund Policy?
No refunds are given. We count on a certain number of students to run a class. However, we will do our best to accommodate you in transferring a balance due to illness/injury/pregnancy with a valid doctors letter. If you’re class gets cancelled due to lack of enrollment a full refund will be given. Class punch cards expire 4 months from the date of purchase.
Are kids allowed in the studio when I take class?
Sorry, no kids allowed. Children under the age of 18 will not be allowed in a gym even with parental supervision.
Can I watch a class?
Unfortunately we cannot allow potential students to come in and observe our classes as it might make our students feel like uncomfortable. If you are unsure, you can sign up to take our Peep Toe Pole Dance Class without any obligation to take more classes. However – We are certain you’ll be back!
Cancellation Policy (New*)
Class Cancellation: We all have those days when making it to class just isn't going to happen. On those days, it's important to keep our class cancellation policy in mind. If you're on the Unlimited Membership plan, our cancellation policy requires that you cancel a class at least 24 hours before class time. If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, there is no penalty. However, if you cancel your reservation within 24 hours, a $10 late cancellation fee applies. The class will also count as one of your allotted visits for that studio or gym. (Please note: the deadline to cancel Stiletto Dance Studios classes 24 hours prior to your scheduled class.
If it's already within the late cancellation window and you won't be able to attend class, we still encourage you to cancel your reservation because missed classes result in a $10 no-show fee and the loss of a studio visit. There's nothing worse than an empty spot in a class, so be sure to cancel as a courtesy to the studio and other students/ members who would like to take the class.
